Dr.R.Jayanthi and Smt.A.Akilandeswari of Tamil department were in- charge of organizing conferences in halls during Classical Tamil World  conference held at Codissia grounds.

Faculty Development Programme at TNAU on “Commodity Future Markets” was attended by Smt.J.Chandraganthi HOD of Commerce department and Ms.D.Prabha Asst. Professor of Management, on 21st and 22nd July, 2010.

NSS seminar on “Environmental studies” was organized on 23rd July K.N.Krishnadas, Department of Social Work; G.R.D College of Science was the speaker.

Importance Of Census awareness program was conducted in association with Primary Health Center , Thudyalur on 23rd July. Three students won prizes in Elocution contest on the about topic.

College Day was celebrated on 12th August, 2010. Dr.C.Swaminathan Vice – Chancellor was the chief guest.

Faculty Development workshop was organized by NSE at Bharathiar University on 30th August, 2010. Smt.J.Chandraganthi, HOD of Commerce department and Ms.D.Prabha, Asst. Profeesor of Management attended.

Bharathi vizha was celebrated on 9th September, 2010 with Thiru.S.Ganesan, Principal, Thambu Higher Secondary School as Chief Guest.

NSS special camp was conducted from 18th September, 2010 to 24th September 2010 at Naickenpalayam Higher Secondary School. Medical camps –Dental camp, Eye camp and Blood donation camp were organized.

Bharathiar University Inter-collegiate handball tournament was organized between 20th September, 2010 and 23rd September, 2010. 27 teams registered. 19 matches were played. Colleges were placed as follows:

I place – VLB College of Arts and Science
II place -  Bharathiar University
III place – Sri Krishna college of Arts and Science
IV place – SRKV College of Arts and Science.

Ms.D.Prabha, Asst. Professor of Management presented a paper on 6th October, 2010 in a National conference at GRD College of Science. Ms.S.Poornima, Asst. Profeesor of Management also attended the same.

Smt.A.Akilandeswari, Asst. Professor of Tamil was selected at all India level by the Nehru Yuva Kendra and participated in adventure camp at Simla, organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt. of India,  NewDelhi from 1st November, 2010 to 10th November, 2010.

Principal Dr.A.A.Sivakumar and Dr.R.Jayanthi of Tamil department participated in the national conference on “Issues in Higher Education” organized by Association of Principals of Colleges, Bharathiar University, UGC Academic Staff College at NGP College of Arts and Science.

Bharathiyar Birthday was celebrated on 11th September, 2010. Dr.Kavidasan the writer and Director HRD of Roots India Limited was the Chief guest.

10 students of our college attended “ NALAMANA TAMIZHAGAM “, A servey program  on 10th & 11th December.

The Red Ribbon club was inaugurated in our campus on 14th December, 2010. Mr.Manjani Koother, District manager RRC, Coimbatore spoke on the principles and policies of the club.

40 students donated blood at Sri Ramakrishna Hospital organized by Narayani Peedam, Vellore and Sri Ramakrishna Hospital on 18th December, 2010.

P.Pavithra of II B.Sc Maths won the first prize in essay competition and third prize in Elocution competition conducted by Sri Ramakrishna Vidyalaya in connection with Guru pooja celebration.

A number of seminars on Environmental Studies, Memory Management, Placement and English were conducted.

Above 50 students were placed by Multinational and local companies. Like WIPRO, TCS, CTS, Slash Support and Banks. More companies will be visiting us during the second  half yearly period.

University Ranks:

The college achieved eight university ranks including a gold medal in B.C.A
by Selvi.K.Sathyavaishnavi.

இதோ அதற்கு ஒரு சமீபத்திய உதாரணமாகத் திகழ்கிறார் காஞ்சனா. இலவசமாகக் கல்வி கற்று மாநிலத்திலேயே முதலிடம் பெற்று தங்கப் பதக்கம் பெற்றிருக்கிறார் இவர்.

கல்வி என்பது ஒவ்வொரு மனிதருக்கும் பிறப்புரிமை. அந்தப் பிறப்புரிமைக்குத் தடையாக இருப்பது வறுமை.

இந்த தடைக்கல்லைத் தகர்த்தெறியும் வகையில் இந்தியாவுக்கே வழிகாட்டும் வகையில் 4 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பாக இலவச கல்வித் திட்டத்தை அறிமுகப்படுத்தியது பாரதியார் பல்கலைக்கழகம். இத்திட்டத்துக்குப் பிதாமகனாக இருந்தவர் அப்போதைய பாரதியார் பல்கலைக்கழக துணைவேந்தரும் இப்போதைய சென்னை பல்கலைக்கழக துணைவேந்தருமான க.திருவாசகம்.

பாரதியார் பல்கலைக்கழகத்துக்குட்பட்ட அனைத்து தனியார் கல்லூரிகளும் ஒவ்வொரு பாடப்பிரிவிலும் குறைந்தபட்சம் 5 சதவீத மாணவர்களுக்கு இலவச கல்வி வழங்க வேண்டும். அப்படி வழங்கும் கல்லூரிகள் கூடுதலாக 5 சதவீத மாணவர் சேர்க்கை செய்ய பல்கலைக்கழகம் அனுமதி வழங்கும். இதுதான் அந்த மகத்தான திட்டம்.

இத் திட்டத்தின்கீழ் கோவை மாவட்டம் பெரியநாயக்கன்பாளையம் பயனீர் கலை அறிவியல் கல்லூரியில் சேர்ந்து இலவசமாக எம்.எஸ்ஸி (கம்ப்யூட்டர் சயன்ஸ்) படித்த கிராமத்து மாணவி என்.காஞ்சனா பல்கலைக்கழக அளவில் முதலிடம் பிடித்து தங்கப் பதக்கம் பெற்று சாதனைபடைத்துள்ளார்.

சாதனை படைத்த அவர், இப்போது அதே கல்லூரியில் பேராசிரியராக பணியாற்றி வருகிறார். கிராமத்தின் மைய பகுதியில் இருக்கும் அக் கல்லூரிக்குச் சென்று காஞ்சனாவிடம் பேசினோம்.

இனி அவரிடம் இருந்து…..

“”பெரியநாயக்கன்பாளையம் அருகே புஜங்கனூர் தான் எனது சொந்த கிராமம்.  நான் 8-ம் வகுப்பு படிக்கும்போதே அப்பா நடராஜ் இறந்துவிட்டார். அம்மா சரஸ்வதி, விவசாய கூலிவேலை செய்து என்னையும், தங்கை சத்யபிரியாவையும் படிக்கவைத்தார்.

ஒன்று முதல் பன்னிரெண்டாம் வகுப்பு வரை அரசுப் பள்ளியில் படித்தேன்.

அம்மா எங்களின் கல்வி ஆர்வத்தைப் புரிந்து கொண்டு கஷ்டப்பட்டு படிக்க வைத்தார். கல்விதான் எங்களுக்கு ஒரே துணை என்பதை எங்களின் அம்மா உணர்ந்திருந்தார். வீட்டில் வறுமை தாண்டவம் ஆடியபோதும் எங்கள் படிப்பை நிறுத்திவிட வேண்டும் என்று அவர் நினைத்ததில்லை.

அரசுப் பள்ளியில் இலவசமாகப் படிக்க முடிந்தது. ஆனால் கல்லூரிப் படிப்பு? அதிலும் இலவசமாகத் தொடர முடியாதே?

நான், பயனீர் கல்லூரியில் பி.சி.ஏ. முடித்தேன். பல்கலைக்கழக அளவில் 8-வது இடம் பிடித்தாலும் வறுமையால் படிப்பைத் தொடர முடியவில்லை. இனிமேல் படிக்கவைக்க பணம் இல்லை என அம்மா கூறிவிட்டார். படிப்பில் அதீத ஆர்வம் இருந்தும் மேற்கொண்டு படிக்க முடியாத நிலை. நாமே சம்பாதித்து படித்தால் என்ன என்ற முடிவுக்கு வந்தேன். கணினி மையத்தில் ஓராண்டாக பணியாற்றினேன்.

அப்போதுதான் பயனீர் கல்லூரி முதல்வர் கே.ஆர்.கார்த்திகேயன் என்னை நேரில் அழைத்து இலவச கல்வித் திட்டத்தில் சேர வாய்ப்பு கொடுத்தார். என் கனவு பலித்தது. மறுக்கப்பட்டிருந்த கல்விக் கனவு மீண்டும் நனவானது.

கல்லூரியில் சேரும்போதே முதல்வரிடமும், இங்குள்ள பேராசிரியர்களிடம் பல்கலைக்கழக அளவில் முதலிடம் பிடிப்பேன் என வாக்குறுதி கொடுத்தேன். அது பலித்துவிட்டது. இப்போது இதே கல்லூரியில் ஆசிரியராக பணியாற்ற வாய்ப்பு கிடைத்திருக்கிறது. அடுத்து எம்.ஃபில் படிக்க திட்டமிட்டுள்ளேன்.

அதைத்தொடர்ந்து என்னை போல வறுமை காரணமாகப் படிக்க முடியாமல் இருக்கும் ஏழை மாணவ, மாணவிகளுக்கு வழிகாட்டுவது தான் அடுத்த லட்சியம்” என முடித்துக்கொண்டார் காஞ்சனா.

பாரதியார் பல்கலைக்கழகம் அறிமுகப்படுத்திய இந்த முன்மாதிரி திட்டத்தைத் தமிழகத்தின் பிற பல்கலைக்கழகங்களும் அறிமுகப்படுத்தினால் எத்தனையோ ஆயிரக்கணக்கான ஏழை மாணவ, மாணவிகளின் வாழ்க்கையில் வெளிச்சம் பிறக்கும்.

With immense pleasure and privilege I went through the book Visual basic 6.0 written by one our young Lecturers, Prof. N.Balakumar of our college.
This book is the result of a lot of reference work made by the author. Every concept has been explained with worked out example. The presentation is very simple and lucid. A combined effort of our teachers and students has resulted in such an excellent volume. My hearty Congratulations to every one of them.
All programs for practical Examinations of computer science and Computer applications students has been worked out. It will be very useful to students.
My best wishes to Prof. N.Balakumar. he has to bring many more volumes of this kind.

2.”Basics of RDBMS & Oracle” by Prof. S. Anbarasan.

FOREWORD
It is a pleasure to go through the excellent book on Basics of RDBMS and Oracle by Prof.S.Anbarasan, a Senior Lecturer in our college.

This book has all the ingredients of a beginners guide and is a summary of all programmes for practical examinations of Computer Science and Computer Applications. Every problem has been worked out with appropriate example.

A lot of reference work has been done by the author. In short, this book is the result of the essence of all references.

It is also a combined effort of all our teachers and students.

I congratulate all the teachers and students besides Mr.S.Anbarasan.
I wish them all success.
